BPNY Creative is my way of forcing myself to make photographs the old fashioned way. I learned photography long before digital, snapping photos with Canon Sure Shots and eventually learning the magic of the dark room in High School. There are now generations who have never experienced the slow pace of analog film photography and the the art that goes along with it.
I'm by no means a film purist, I have several digital cameras and I think there are plusses and minuses to both types of photography. However, I hate to see these great cameras tossed away or lost to time because they can still create amazing photographs and sometimes create something you don't even expect.
So here I am, restoring vintage cameras and testing them out with rolls of new and expired film to make sure they work and then sharing them people who are interested in what film photography has to offer. All the cameras youll find here have been cleaned and tested by me. I make sure that all of them are functioning as expected. Some may have light leaks, some may not have the most reliable light meters, but all will expose a roll of film. I use a professional film processing company to develop my film and any images posted along with a camera were made by that camera, with little to no post processing done to the images.
Im not a camera expert but I do know what I like, either to shoot with or aesthetically and that is typically what I look to clean up and sell. It doesnt mean its the best camera, but since Im the one shooting with it I might as well enjoy it along the way and hopefully you will too! I do like to tinker though and I know enough to make sure a camera is functioning reliably. If its not, I will end up using it for parts or possibly an art project. I also make accessories for cameras and photography which you will see on the site as well.
